![]() ![]() The modes consist of Program AE, Aperture-Priority, Shutter-Priority, and full Manual mode, along with a Bulb mode for manually timed exposures. How annoying is that? It was about $5 dollars.Being a professional model, the Canon EOS 1D Mark IV provides only the essentials in terms of exposure modes. However, apparently Shuttercount Mobile for iphone can do this, and it costs $2.99.Įos msg does work.I just paid for it and it supports the 5d IV. Shuttercount can only read the 5D4 and 80D on MacOS, not Windows. The new ShutterCount can read the shutter counter of Canon 5d4. The "eosmsg" support 5d4 5ds/5dsr 1dx2 750d 760d 1300d 80d etc, but it's not free. Think this is also true forġDsIII as I've been shooting one for some time. I think only Canon repair can give shutter counts. (The hits just keep comingĥD Mark IV doesnt have this option, i was looking for it. How many times did the camera get hit?(0). Now ask me how many mild contact hits (4), hard as - in knock down, sore and panting (2), bleacher tumbles - mild (2), Bad bleacher tumbles (1), 45% back slides down scree slopes (1), etc., etc. Never a shutter blink on these or any other Canon I've owned. Desperate for light I sold it off to get a 1Dx where the pace has accelerated. The 1DIV first of the "big time" sports machines, probably 250K. The 1DIIn had ≈200K on it before my short lived affair with a funky 1DIII. Would take a data warehouse to keep em all. Should be able to find in the camera menu system.there will be a spotįor showing shutter will look like this <3000Īll I can say is it's a good thing I trash about 98% of the pix I take - particularly in sports. Let's see: 4 x 400k = yep, a lot of images! and it looks good as new. Guess it'll be on its way to CPS next year for #5 (although the 1DXII sees more action these days). Like you said, its shutter was replaced every ~ 400k - whether needed or not! My 1D4, purchased from another FM member, has ~400k on its 4th shutter. That was a man who knew how to thrash a camera. Not that they were failing, just that he was making sure they wouldn't when he was doing the serious shooting of the international cheer competitions.ĭo miss Hammy. Not since Hammy left this board have we encountered anyone who was replacing 1D shutters as they approached 400K clicks. As a statistician, I have my theoretical problems with the MTBF model, but it is a useful estimate of durability. MTBF is a statistical construct not an actual average of real shutter clicks in action. Modern cameras have MTBF ranging from 250,000 to 400,000. How fast? How loaded? Freeway? City crawl? Wana be dragster/road racer? Little old lady who never blew the carbon out?Ī click's a click. Unless a camera has been to Antarctica, dropped in a swimming pool, or the shutter left at B for so long as to burn the sensor, a click is a click.Ī mile is NOT a mile on a car. Sellers would down play shutter count but buyers want to know this information, like the mileage on used cars.īuyers think clicks are like miles, but that's so far off the mark as to be laughable. I looked around for a bit for something else without much success. There was a big update about a week ago and now Sierra can see RAW files but I have not tried Inspector yet but I doubt it will work. ![]() What OS? When I got my 5D4 a few weeks ago I was on Sierra and EOS Inspector did not work. Also I take note every time the count cycles back to 0001, putting a hash mark on a board for the number of 10K exposures for that particular body.īTW: shutterCount does not work on newer bodies, like my 5Ds R and 80D ![]() ![]() The 4 cameras that I normally shoot with are on the continuous count so I can just look at the last image for the image number. I have been careful with my memory cards which are formatted in the computer after downloading. Well, I am close enough to CPS Costa Mesa and can just walk the camera in for service or shutter count. I am more concerned about the videotime so I query about how the camera was used primarily. Sellers would down play shutter count but buyers want to know this information, like the mileage on used cars. Use it until shutter fails, that will take a long time unless you spray and pray Any suggestions? Would appreciate your help. I have bought latest shutter count app from apple store and it works great with any camera except 5D Mark IV. Does anybody know how to check shutter count on Canon 5D Mark IV camera. ![]()
